ba HRM (top-up)

This BA Human Resource Management (Top-Up) is designed for HR professionals and middle managers who hold a Level 5 qualification (HND, Associate Degree, or equivalent) and wish to transition into strategic HR leadership. Validated by The Trinity College and University (TCU) and delivered by Bright Star, this program aligns your practical HR experience with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) Level 6.

Course Overview: BA Human Resource Management

  • Duration: 9 - 12 Months
  • EQF Level: Level 6 equivalent
  • Total Credits: 120 UK Credits (60 ECTS)
  • Assessment: Strategic HR, Workforce Planning, and Action Learning

Module Structure

The curriculum is designed to move the student from "Administrative HR" to "Strategic HR Business Partnering."

Module 1: Strategic HRM and Global Talent Acquisition

  • Focus: Aligning HR strategy with corporate goals. Analysing global labour markets, employer branding, and AI-driven recruitment ethics.
  • Assessment: Development of a 3,000-word Strategic Talent Acquisition Plan for a specific sector.

Module 2: Employee Relations, Law and Ethics

  • Focus: Navigating complex employment law, collective bargaining, and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Understanding the legal frameworks for remote and "gig economy" workers.
  • Assessment: A Case Study Analysis resolving a complex workplace dispute or ethical dilemma.

Module 3: Learning and Organisational Development (L&OD)

  • Focus: Building a "Learning Culture." Using the 70-20-10 model, identifying skill gaps, and measuring the ROI of training programs.
  • Assessment: An L&OD Strategy proposal based on a real-world organizational audit.

Module 4: The HR Action Research Project (Capstone)

  • Focus: Applying IFAL Action Learning principles to a live HR challenge. Students must implement a change (e.g., a new performance appraisal system or a wellbeing initiative) and evaluate its success.
  • Assessment: A 7,000-word portfolio including implementation evidence, data analysis, and a reflective summary.

The TCU Advantage

  1. APL Integration Candidates with extensive HR experience can use the Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) process to map their previous certifications (e.g., CIPD, SHRM) directly against Modules 1 or 2, allowing for a faster completion time.
  2. Evidence-Based Assessment Instead of traditional exams, we use Work-Integrated Assessment. Your assignments are based on your actual job, meaning your coursework adds immediate value to your current employer.
  3. Global Credibility Graduates receive a degree registered with the TCU. In a field like HR, where integrity is paramount, having a 24/7 verifiable credential gives you a distinct advantage in international recruitment.

Learning Outcomes (LOs)

  • LO1 - Design and implement HR strategies that drive organizational performance.
  • LO2 - Critically evaluate the impact of employment law on business operations.
  • LO3 - Lead organizational change using Action Learning methodologies.
  • LO4 - Utilize HR analytics to make data-driven decisions at the board level.

"The capacity to learn is a gift the ability to learn is a skill the willingness to learn is a choice."
